Varicocele
infertility
Varicocele
is also known as varicose seal. Varicoceles enlarge the
varicose vein present in the scrotum. Abnormal size of this
vein will make the testicle to drain. Compressive in the vein
will lead to varicocele.40% of men suffers to infertility due
to this vein. Very common the left testicle vein will be
enlarged. A small surgery will repair this Varicocele and
improves the male fertility. Local anesthesia will be given to
the patient and a small incision will made near to the abdomen.
Later by identifying the vein that produces Varicocele will be
operated to remove the flow of blood to the Varicocele.
Non-surgical procedures also repair the
Varicocele.
Varicocele
infertility
Varicocele infertility
affects overall 15% of men and 50% of men to infertility. It
kills the sperm or damage the Varicocele. This surgery
treatment is as an outpatient will be discharged within 4
hours. Pain killers will be given for a week and advised not to
strain for one or two days.
World
Health Organization (WHO) has proved that a man with Varicocele
defect has no fertility problem. Only the testicles volume
decrease, impaired sperm and damage in cell function. Some
other researches say that Varicocele affects the male
fertility.

Varicocele infertility can
be diagnosed by physical examination in a clinic. The patient
is asked to stand in a straight position in a warm room so that
the scrotal dartos muscle can be examined and accurate defect
of Varicocele. The spermatic cord must be palpated between the
thumb and forefinger. The size must be carefully measured while
the patient is in Valsalva maneuver or in supine position. If
failed then ultrasound scan will be taken. The vein size must
be 3 mm if not then it is clear that the patient has a problem
in Varicocele.
Symptoms
Pain if
standing or sitting for a long time.
Fertility problems like decrease
sperm, decrease motility and impaired sperm.
Testicular atrophy was the
testicle shrinks.
TREATMENT
Open
surgical treatment will be done by urologist and non-surgical
treatment is given by radiologist. Non-surgical will effect
soon than a surgical treatment. Less pain, less expense, less
risk and less time. Only two treatments are presently
available. One is Catheter-directed Embolization and surgical
ligation.
Catheter- directed Embolization:
This non- surgical treatment given to the patient with a local
anesthesia which keeps the patient subconscious for two hours.
A thin catheter is passed to the testicular vein. So that the
doctor can examine where is to block or embolize the vein. By
using a balloon the radiologist block the blood flow so that
pressure of Varicocele will be reduced. They may coils or
particles for the process.
Varicoceletomy is an open surgery
treatment. Two- three inch incision is given below the abdomen
to off tie the veins as same as in non- surgical treatment. But
these surgical treatments have some draw backs that during
surgeries lateral drainage vein takes place. So high failure
rates and reappearance in the process takes place. Varicocele
can be repaired which leads to reduce male
infertility.
